Hotel was lovely and nice, I enjoyed the stay.
Everything was perfectly fine, BEAUTIFUL location just next door to an old castle, the vineyards of Pouilly-Fumé and the grounds, amiable staff. The rooms were spacious and unique with free Wi-Fi. Overlooked garden. The pool was great and I had soft drinks in the downstairs bar. Had a really lovely time.

The room was a good size and had a spacious wardrobe. It was nice to have a separate toilet and a nice big bathtub. Plus, they had a cool bar downstairs 🍸. the location was really peaceful, close to both PouillyFumé and Sancerre, and there was even a lovely pond nearby.

The Host was wonderful; welcoming, hospitable and charming. The room was very tastefully appointed. The breakfast was good with a reasonable choice and coffee top-ups were frequent. The building has wonderful atmosphere, a lovely reception room to relax in, and the grounds are spacious, Nice for a walk including discovering a ruined private chapel. Free parking, near Nevers (10 mins) and a good base to see nearby places (eg Vezelay is an hour away). Excellent value.
Minor: The swimming pool (outdoors) is not completed (july 2011). In due course, as business increases in this new venture, a restaurant would be nice for evening meals. Plenty of choice nearby and in Nevers though, from MacDonald's to Michelin starred and directions given gladly by our host.

Incredibly beautiful building with old creaky floors and original murals in the rooms; breakfast was good; but above all the friendly and professional welcome by staff.
Because everything else about this hotel is so good I feel curmudgeonly complaining about it, but as a fairly light sleeper I did find the lack of any sound insulation between rooms/floors quite annoying. I could hear almost every word of people in adjacent rooms even though they were talking at normal conversational level. This would have been tolerable before midnight, but the people upstairs got back at 4am. I think the management should seriously consider investing in some sound insulation while the hotel is still undergoing renovation.

Our children, Emma and Jack, absolutely loved the spacious grounds, especially the swimming pool. It was the perfect place for them to cool off and have fun during the summer. The owners, Gaelle and Sebastien, were incredibly welcoming and made our family feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable and even provided us with recommendations for family-friendly activities in the area. It was a truly memorable experience for all of us.
My wife says that it would have been great if there were more child-friendly amenities available, such as a dedicated play area or games room. While the grounds were beautiful, our children wished there were more activities to keep them entertained on-site.

A very quiet hotel which has recently been restored, some outside work still to completed, but this did not distract from our stay. Whilst the hotel does not have its own restrauant facilities the owner we recommend and book local restrauants for you.

This hotel is incredibly beautiful with generously sized rooms. the employees are very welcoming. the location in Varennes-Vauzelles is favourable, set amidst the vineyards of Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre, as well as Burgundy. I always choose this place whenever I am in Varennes-Vauzelles. the downstairs bar offers a variety of soft drinks.

The experience of staying at a Chateau in the country. Very quite and relaxing. Complete opposite of staying in one of the big cities.
There was an ant problem in the bathroom and bedroom.

Very helpful staff, warm welcome on arrival. Our room was large and comfortable with its own separate bathroom and separate toilet. Light coloured stone walls, bleached timber beamed ceiling, and rich fabrics all gave a cosy, period feel to the room. We had views across the entire front grounds, in a quiet country setting on the outskirts of Nevers. The room rate included a great buffet breakfast for two. We'd definitely stay there again and would recommend to friends who were looking for a confortable overnight stop or a long weekend away. The Chateau is really well run even though it has only been open for 6 months or so.
